Thankful

Today, I celebrated an unconventional Thanksgiving. I went to my very best friend’s house. Along with his wife and my little brother, we played Dungeons & Dragons. We ate burgers from the farm and drank coffee and fresh cider.

My little brother DMed and we had a great time. I juggled knives, to everyone’s surprise. We talked about nerdy, nerdy things, like whether Elves are truly still Fey creatures. We spent a ton of time creating our characters, then played. We laughed at ourselves and at each other. We got into the world that my brother was crafting.

So, I am thankful. I am thankful for the friendship of geeks.

A Day Before Giving Thanks

I am in such a different mindspace now than I was two months ago. I have come off the biggest failure of my life, paused briefly from the stun, and then threw my momentum into new endeavors.
